Stopping Towns
Our stopping towns are the towns
we will bike from and to each day. They are chosen, in part,
based on the
facilities and services available in each town.
We prefer
to stay in larger towns in each region rather than smaller
ones because there are more facilities and services available
in the larger towns. There are also only a limited number
of towns in central and southern Illinois that have the
facilities and services necessary to support us such
as a bike shop and a hospital, two of the most limiting criteria,
and we will not stay in a town that does not have the
facilities
and services necessary to support us.
First Two Nights in Carbondale
Accordingly,
we spend Saturday night in Carbondale instead of Cairo
because Cairo is too small of a town to
support us. There are very few services in Cairo and
no bicycle shop or hospital so instead we spend
the first two nights in Carbondale and transport you and
your
bicycle to the starting location in Cairo from Carbondale
on Sunday morning. It is also very nice to end up back in
Carbondale where your gear will already be set
up
from
the
night before
and you
can rest and relax a little bit more from the first
day's ride.

service to Cairo from Carbondale on Sunday morning for all
participants.
We will not coordinate any in town services in Cairo.
