TRI-STATE TOUR CHICAGO CENTURY
Transportation Service to the Hammond Hotel Before the Start of the Event

Kenosha Transportation Staging PointPick Up from ChicagoTransportation Means Arrival in Hammond

We are pleased to offer transportation service to the Hammond hotel from both Kenosha and downtown Chicago for you, your bicycle, and your baggage the day before the start of the event.

This transportation service is the perfect option for participants from areas north of the event such as Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, and Lake County. You can also park you car overnight in Kenosha for free!

  • Click Here for more information about overnight parking in Kenosha.
  • Click Here for more information about the transportation service departure and arrival process.
  • Click Here for more information about transportation staging points.
  • Click Here for more information about our transportation services.

We can only guarantee that we will have space on our vehicles to transport you and your bicycle from Kenosha if you register for our return transportation service during regular registration and we absolutely cannot guarantee that spaces will be available the day before the event. If any spaces are available we will gladly sell them to you (including a late registration fee) subject to availability.

The main event check in for participants taking our transportation service before the start of an event will occur directly at the transportation staging point(s). Doing this allows us to track who has arrived for the transportation service and also distribute any registration materials that you might need before you depart (such as the parking sign, individual bus or train tickets, etc.)

  • Click Here for more information about invidual arrival plans for our transportation services.

Our transportation service to the Hammond hotel before the start of the event will only available for the Tri-State Tour Chicago Century #1. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer this service for the Tri-State Tour Chicago Century #2 because all our vehicles and staff will be in downtown Chicago for the end of the Bicycle Illinois tour and we won't have enough time after to travel up to Kenosha to pick up everyone at a reasonable time. We may be able to provide this service for the Tri-State Tour #2 in future years though if there is enough interest, so please let us know!!!!!

Taking the Metra Train from Kenosha
We STRONGLY discourage you taking the Metra train from Kenosha for overwhelming logistical constraints.

Kenosha Transportation Staging Point

All participants must arrive at the Kenosha transportation staging point by 5:30 pm.

PLEASE BE READY TO DEPART AT 5:30 PM AT THE LATEST AND DO NOT BE LATE. OTHER PEOPLE WILL BE DEPENDING ON YOU. IF YOU ARE LATE WE CAN NOT WAIT FOR YOU.

The staging point for the return transportation service from Kenosha will be at the overnight parking location directly at our ending location at the Kenosha hotel.

  • Click Here for more information about our transportation staging point in Kenosha.

We will depart Kenosha promptly after all bicycles, baggage, and people have been loaded and we have conducted our final head count as necessary. Bathrooms will not be available in any vehicle so you will need to use the restroom in Kenosha before we leave.

Pick up from Chicago
We will also offer the option of getting picked up in downtown Chicago on our way from Kenosha to the Hammond hotel. Getting picked up there is the perfect option for people who do not want to drive or ride on their own to the starting location.

Chicago Staging Point

Northeast corner of
E. Harrison St. and
S. Wabash Ave.
Chicago, IL 60605

The transportation service staging point will be behind our supported hotel at the northeast corner of E. Harrison St. and S. Wabash Ave. This is very close to all CTA L trains which you can easily use to transport both you and your bike to and from all other public transportation options in downtown Chicago. This also easily accomodates any participants staying at the hotel the next night.

There is a very wide marked off area on the street to load and unload bicycles and typically has little or no traffic or parked cars and avoids the hustle and bustle of the main hotel entrance on Michigan Ave.

  • Click Here for more information about the Chicago transportation staging point.
  • Click Here for more information about the Chicago CTA L Train Stations.

Other than Chicago, there will not be any mid-route stops as part of this transportation service such as at our rest stop locations.

All participants must arrive at the Chicago transportation staging point by 7:00 pm.

PLEASE BE READY TO DEPART AT 7:00 PM AT THE LATEST AND DO NOT BE LATE. OTHER PEOPLE WILL BE DEPENDING ON YOU. IF YOU ARE LATE WE CAN NOT WAIT FOR YOU.

Based on previous experience we expect the trip from Kenosha to downtown Chicago to take approximately an hour and a half, and we expect that we will arrive in Chicago at or after 7:00 pm. However it is impossible to guarantee our exact arrival time in Chicago since this depends on many different factors beyond our control. Accordingly, we will stay in contact with you and give you our most accurate estimated arrival time as plans progress, but you should still expect to little while for us to arrive in Chicago.

  • Click Here for more information about our departure from Kenosha and arrival in Chicago.

Participants Who Parked in Chicago
If you parked your car at Dusable Harbor, you will need to walk or bike from there to the transportation staging point yourself. Directions and a map will be provided.

Unfortunately we will not be able to pick participants up directly at the parking lot because we can't quickly or easily get to or from it with our vehicles. Not only would we have to drive down Randolph St. across the entire downtown since we can't drive our school busses or trucks on Lake Shore Drive, but it is almost imposible to turn these vehicles around in the cul-du-sac at the end of Randolph St.

Transportation Means

People Transportation
Participants will travel either aboard a charter school bus or in one of our support vehicles. We will not be using any public transportation carriers (Amtrak, Greyhound, MegaBus, Metra, etc.) to transport people and you will not need to purchase any separate bus or train ticket on your own.

  • Click Here for more information about our people transportation means.
  • Click Here for more information about our support vehicles.

Bicycle Transportation
We will transport your bicycle ourselves.

  • Click Here for more information about our bicycle transportation means.

All vehicles will travel together so your bicycle will be available for you to pick up immediately after we arrive.

Baggage Transportation
All participants will carry their baggage with them on board the vehicle.

  • Click Here for more information about baggage transportation means.

Arrival in Hammond
The transportation staging point for Hammond will be directly at the Hammond hotel.

  • Click Here for more information about the Hammond hotel.
