POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Our Mechanical Support
Services
|
When a professional bicycle
mechanic is not travelling with
us, our supporting bike shops will
be our primary provider of mechanical support services.
If a bike shop is in a stopping town, it will be the
only provider of mechanical support services there.
Professional bicycle mechanics will only be available
at the bike shops and you should also always plan on
getting
all mechanical services and parts or accessories there.

On Road Mechanical Support
When a professional bicycle mechanic is not travelling
directly with us, we will be the primary providers of mechanical
support
on the road.
We will have the ability to fix common problems such as
flat tires, loose seat posts, handlebars, nuts and bolts,
and charging personal electronic devices such as GPS devices
and cell phones. We will attempt to fix all other mechanical
problems to the our best of our ability. Although we will
carry a full bicycle tool kit and set of commonly used bicycle
parts, tools, accessories, and personal electronic device
chargers with us, these items are intended for emergency
on road use only and not for general, expected usage. Doing
so ensures that we will have enough parts, tools, and accessories
for all participants as necessary.
Our staff members are not professional bicycle mechanics
and we are not a bike shop. Our mechanical support is intended
for
emergency use only and should not be relied upon on a normal
or expected basis. We will definitely not have the ability
to fix any major problems ourselves that require major parts
or special tools such as a bent rim.
You should not rely on us if you know or will reasonably
expect to need any parts, tools, accessories, chargers or
mechanical work done at all since we cannot guarantee that
we will have the part, tool, accessory, charger or mechanical
ability you need, especially anything uncommon, or the time
to do it. You will need to carry all necessary parts, tools,
accessories, and/or chargers with you if you know you will
need them and also know how to perform any necessary mechanical
work yourself. That way you are guaranteed that the part,
tool, accessory, or charger you need will be available when
you need it and the work can be done properly. Doing so will
also ensure that we will have enough emergency parts, tools,
accessories, and chargers for all participants as necessary.
If we cannot fix a mechanical problem on the road, you will
need to get it fixed on your own at the supporting bike shop
in the next stopping town.
