Amtrak trains are a unique feature of
our events! They are a superior alternative to
coach bus transportation
and we prefer to use them whenever
possible. Not only are
Amtrak trains more comfortable
and open than
a coach bus, they are also generally
faster, less expensive, and less likely to get
filled up because they have significantly more seating capacity.
Bathrooms
and overhead racks are available on the train, as well
as a snack
car.
All passengers must present a picture
ID upon boarding so make sure to bring one
with you.
Specific information about the Amtrak train station in each
stopping town will be listed under
the
information
for that stopping town.

Fully Assembled, Unboxed Bicycles
A limited number of fully assembled, unboxed bicycles may be carried aboard
a limited number of trains. There is an extra charge to transport your
bike aboard and you need to make and purchase an extra ticket specifically
for
it.
We prepurchase all reservations for fully assembled,
unboxed bicycles on all appropriate trains for our transportation
services in order to ensure spaces are available as necessary
for bicycle transportation aboard.
When we are certain that the number of participants travelling
on each train will exceed the maximum number of fully assembled,
unboxed bicycles allowed we will transport all bicycles ourselves. However, we may have participants doing
a mid-route stop carry their bicycles
aboard the train themselves so we do not have to stop at
a mid-route location along the way.

stops.

Individual
Refunds and Changes
If you have not yet already picked
up your ticket, Amtrak
can issue you full a refund if you cancel more than 24
hours before your trip. If you cancel less than 24 hours
before your trip Amtrak can still issue you a refund but
there will be
a penalty of 10% of your fare.
If you have already
picked up your ticket it is not refundable.
You can cancel transportation for just your
bicycle only. This cannot be done online - you have to
call Amtrak customer service to do so. The passenger portion
of the fare will remain the same.
Even though customers cannot directly change
the name on a reservation,
customer service can effectively accommodate name
changes by cancelling the original ticket and then reissuing
it in another name.
