Transportation
Services
BEFORE THE START of the Tour to Cairo
This service includes transportation of your baggage and
bicycle to Carbondale, and transportation of you, your
baggage, and
bicycle from Carbondale to Cairo. This
service does NOT include transportation of you to Carbondale. If
you are not initially meeting us in Carbondale, you must
also purchase your own ticket on the 391 Saluki Amtrak train
to Carbondale separately on your own.
The bicycle you transport must be the same one you ride. There
will be an additional $30.00 fee to transport bicycles that
require special handing and care (recumbents, e-bikes, etc.)
Additional fees may apply for tandem or other bicycle types.
However a tandem bicycle will not incur an additional fee if
both people riding it register for the same transportation
service. Trikes (any bicycle with more than two wheels) are
not allowed due to our inability to easily and quickly transport
them.

AFTER THE END of the Tour from Chicago
This service includes a ticket for transportation of you, your
baggage and your standard full-size bicycle aboard an Amtrak
train from Chicago. Non-upright bikes (recumbents, tandems,
etc.) are not allowed per Amtrak policy. There is a limit
of 4 total registrations for the 8:15 am (391 Saluki) train,
4 for the 4:05 pm (393 Illini) train, and 2 for the 8:05
pm (59 City Of New Orleans) train.

Mechanical
Support Plan Our mechanic offers a pre-paid Mechanical Support Plan which
includes:
All mechanical labor services on the road during
the ride, every riding day, including flat tire changing.
A pre-ride inspection the day before your first riding
day of the event upon request.
A free loaner wheel in case of unrepairable wheel damage
(subject to availability).
A free loaner bicycle if case your bicycle can
not be repaired on the road during the ride (subject to
availability).
A 15% discount on post-ride services and repairs not
included in the mechanical service plan, such as bike wash
and
tune-up services.
The mechanical support plan is a fantastic value and makes
a LOT of sense! Considering the minimum fee for any single
service is at least $20 and an on road visit from the mechanic
is $50, the mechanical support plan will easily pay for itself.
You'd be crazy NOT to purchase it!
