Stops

Mid-route stops are available in Kankakee, Champaign, Effingham,
and Centralia and are most popular with participants from in and around
central Illinois who do not want to drive to Chicago or Carbondale
or pay for parking in either town.

Locations
Mid-route stops will only be done
at the locations below for the
stopping towns between Chicago and Carbondale (Kankakee,
Champaign,
Effingham,
and
Centralia).
All mid-route stop locations will be at gas
stations
at
exits directly off
I-57. We cannot
do mid-route stops directly at any Amtrak
train
station
in any stopping town (or any other specific location) because
it would take too long for us to travel all the way to the Amtrak train
station in each town and then back out to the interstate.
If you want to meet us at a mid-route stop before the start of the tour
you will need to initially meet us at one of the locations below and give
us your bicycle there. You
will then need to drive over to the Amtrak station, make
arrangements
as necessary to park your car there long term during the tour, then board
the Amtrak train when it arrives at that station from Chicago.
If you want to depart from a mid-route stop after the end of the
tour you will need to depart the Amtrak train when it arrives at that station
from Chicago. You will then need
to drive over and meet us at one of the locations
below and we can return your bicycle to you there.
