It is critically important that you set up and practice using your personal GPS device before the event so you fully understand what to expect and are fully prepared

Supported GPS Devices
If you own a supported GPS device and your individual device doesn't work for you, you can always use on of our GPS units as long as we know by the regular registration deadline.

Power and Battery Life
Relatively short battery lives can be a major issue with personal electronic devices. By far the most common way a device will fail on the road is simply running out of power and is best prevented through proper personal planning beforehand.

Handlebar Mounting
You must have your smartphone mounted on your handlebars with a mount
Use your unit hands free to navigate the route. Have it mounted on your handlebars (not just carrying it in your hand or your pocket)
get one specifically designed for your specific device, not one that is universal
adjust the angle tilt so you can see your unit’s display the best
buy and install everything you need, depending on your specific GPS device
buy and install a mount specific for your GPS device onto your handlebars

Device Settings
Play around with different setting so your unit works the way you want it to
May need to adjust the screen blackout and backlight timing (prevent excessive power drain)
have the device settings changed
Play around with settings to see how they work, customize to what suits you the best
