TRI-STATE TOUR
Starting and Stopping Towns

HammondKenoshaChicago

Based on the event goal of cycling from the Illinois/Indiana border to the Illinois/Wisconsin in one day, we chose Hammond and Kenosha to be the closest towns over the Illinois border with all of the services we need. Starting and ending in these cities (as opposed to very small towns) makes transportation the easiest for the most amount of people, especially people who either don't have a car, and allows for the greatest number of necessary services to be available such as hotels, restaurants, bike shops, and hospitals.

We will have a supported hotel set up in all towns as well as an in-town cue sheet and map centered around the supported hotel that will show safe routes to the supported facilities and services in each town.

Hammond
We chose to start the ride in Hammond because of the amazing bike paths the city has built around Wolf Lake and it is also very close to our rest stop at Wm. Powers Conservation area (Wolf Lake) on the Bicycle Illinois event and allows the participants of Bicycle Illinois to easily continue riding on the Tri-State Tour.

Kenosha
We chose to end the ride in Kenosha because of the available Metra train service back to Chicago, gorgeous ending location right on the Kenosha harbor and the beach, and the numerous things to do in downtown Kenosha while waiting for the return transportation service.

Chicago
We are have Chicago as one of our stopping towns because participants can starting their ride directly from our res stop down town and because we will be stopping there as a mid-route stop on our return transportation service from Kenosha.
