Departure from Kenosha, WI
The main staging site for the return transportation service from Kenosha will be directly at the event ending location.

After you arrive at the event ending location it may be a little while before we are ready to depart and we encourage you to spend the time swimming at the pool, taking a shower, getting something to eat on your own or exploring the Kenosha area. We recommend bringing your lunch or some snacks and drinks on the train with you in case you get hungry along the way. Please note that we will not have any other food items available at the ending location other than our rest stop snack items so you may want to go get something to eat or bring some food items with you in your personal bag to eat after you arrive.

We intend to depart Kenosha at approximately 6:30 pm, shortly after the swimming pool and showers close. We may depart earlier if possible but because of our strict no man left behind policy we will not depart until all participants have arrived safely at the ending location. We need to have everyone together at the same time to depart so PLEASE BE READY TO DEPART BY 6:30 pm AT THE LATEST AND DO NOT BE LATE. OTHER PEOPLE WILL BE DEPENDING ON YOU. If you are late we can not wait for you.

It is impossible to know exactly when we will be able to depart because our departure time depends on when all participants have arrived safely at the ending location, how many participants are taking the return transportation service, any complicated bicycle loading situations we may encounter, and anything else we may have to attend to after the end of the event.

Bicycle Transportation
Your bicycle will be transported on a separate moving truck. After you arrive at the ending location we will separate bikes into ones being dropped off in downtown Chicago and ones being dropped off in Hammond, IN since we need to load all the bikes going to each location together. You will need to make sure your bike gets loaded on properly yourself - we will not be able to make sure your bike gets loaded for you.

We will initially load bikes going to downtown Chicago outside the moving truck and bikes going to Hammond inside in order to facilitate quick bicycle unloading in downtown Chicago. Once either the outside racks or inside of the moving truck is full we will load any bikes going to downtown Chicago after those going to Hammond, IN because we will stop in downtown Chicago first so we want these bikes in front as much as possible.

Click Here for more information about bicycle transportation means.

Transportation of People and Gear
You will be transported in either a school bus or van. If you had us transport a small personal bag for you, you will need to carry it with you. We will not be able to carry them in our moving truck once bicycles have been loaded.

You will need to use the bathrooms in Kenosha before we leave because bathrooms will not be available in any vehicle or at or near the Chicago drop off location.

Arrival in Downtown Chicago
Getting dropped off in downtown Chicago is the perfect option for people who did not drive to Hammond, IN.

Our drop-off location will be directly at our supported hotel at the northeast corner of E. 8th St. and S. Wabash Ave. It is a very wide open area to unload bicycles and typically has little or no traffic or parked cars, avoids the hustle and bustle of the main hotel entrance on Michigan Ave, and is relatively close to all Chicago public transportation options.

It is impossible to know exactly when we will arrive in downtown Chicago since our arrival time depends on when the moving truck is fully loaded and we can depart Kenosha and traffic conditions. From previous experience though we expect the trip from Kenosha, WI to downtown Chicago to take between an hour to an hour and a half.

If you had continued on the Tri-State Tour from Bicycle Illinois and will be taking the transportation service from Chicago the next morning, the hotel will also be our staging point the following morning.

If you would like to extend your event as part of a weekend getaway in the city, our supported hotel in Chicago is in the heart of downtown Chicago and within easy walking distance of the museum campus, State Street shopping are and the central downtown business and theater district. Staying there can be perfect way to allow your tired and sore muscles to rest and recover from a challenging day of cycling! Room blocks will not be available, you will need to call for the best rate. We recommend calling early due to potential availability issues from major summer events, festivals, or celebrations or anyone else.

Arrival in Hammond, IN
Our drop-off location in Hammond, IN will be directly at the event starting location. Getting dropped off back at the event starting location is the perfect option for people who drove directly to the start of the ride.

It is impossible to know exactly when we will arrive back at the event starting location since our arrival time depends on when the moving truck is fully loaded and we can depart Kenosha, traffic conditions, and how many participants need to get dropped off in downtown Chicago. From previous experience though we expect the trip from Kenosha, WI to Hammond, IN to be anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours or more.
