El Trains
Since the CTA El train is an efficient travel option and fully assembled bicycles are allowed on CTA trains, Bicycle Illinois recomends this option as the best local method to arrive downtown. Please note though that it can be somewhat difficult if you have a lot of baggage, as you must climb up and down stairs and go through turnstiles. The cost is $2.00.

Arrive at the Roosevelt station via the Red, Orange, or Green line. From the station head 1/2 block west on E. Roosevelt Rd. (towards the Walgreens on the corner), and turn right on S. State St. Go 3 blocks north on S. State St. and turn right on E. 8th St. The loading area for the Chicago Hilton will be 1 1/2 blocks down E. 8th St. on the left.

Bus
Bicycles can be placed on the front racks of CTA buses. Please check the CTA website for bus routes serving the supported hotel, located on Michigan Ave. between Balbo and 8th St.

From The Airports

If you are arriving by airplane all major airlines require your bicycle to be boxed and also charge an additional fee to carry it with you on the airplane. Instead of shipping your bike on the plane, Bicycle Illinois strongly recommends shipping your boxed bike to our supporting bicycle shop in downown Chicago to have it reassembled since it is about the same price and it can be very difficult to transport a lot of baggage and a boxed bike from the airports downtown. The bicycle shop is only a few blocks from the supported hotel.

Shuttle Van
Upon arrival at either Airport, locate the Continental Airport Express desk [phone (312) 787-4500] located in the baggage claim area. You can purchase your shuttle van ticket there. They will then direct you to the central shuttle departure area where shuttle vans depart every few minutes.

Hours of operation:
O'Hare - 6am - 11:30pm
Midway - 6am - 10:30pm

Cost:
O'Hare - $23.00 one way
Midway - $18.00 one way

ALWAYS allow 1-hour travel time. During rush hour traffic, allow 1-½ hours.

Taxis
Midway Airport - about $25-$35 dollars, depending on traffic.
O'Hare Airport - about $32-$45 dollars, depending on traffic.

Please note that traffic can be quite heavy especially during rush hour.

Trains from Airports
The train is an efficient travel option if you are only carrying bags, but can be difficult if you also have a boxed bicycle, as you must climb up and down stairs and go through turnstiles. The cost is $2.00.

O'Hare Airport:
The Blue Line CTA train is easily accessible at the airport. Locate the signs within the airport directing you to the CTA Rapid Transit Blue Line Train. Trains leave every few minutes.

You must transfer from the Blue Line train to the Red Line train. To do this exit the Blue Line CTA train at the Washington station and go down the stairs with the sign above that says "Red Line" and through the tunnel. No fee or transfer cards are necessary to transfer trains.

Get on the Red Line train going to 95th/Dan Ryan. DO NOT get on the Red Line train going to Howard, it is going the wrong way.

Depart the train at the Roosevelt station.

Midway Airport:
The Orange Line train is easily accessible at the airport. Locate the signs within the airport directing you to the CTA Rapid Transit Orange Line Train. Trains leave every few minutes.

Depart the train at the Roosevelt station.
