Logistics of Continuing
on the Tri-State Tour
Arriving in Hammond on Friday
You will need to ride over to the Hammond hotel from our
rest stop set up at Wm. Powers Recreation Area (Wolf Lake).
You should replenish yourself one last time at this rest
stop since one will not be set up at the Hammond
hotel. Directions
and a map from Wm. Powers Recreation Area (Wolf Lake) to
the Hammond hotel will be provided.
You will need to stay at the Hammond hotel since we will
not have indoor and/or outdoor lodging available at a main
lodging site facility such as a school or community center.
We will deliver your baggage at the Hammond hotel on our
way into Chicago and
it will be waiting there for you when you arrive.
Saturday Morning
On Saturday morning you will leave your baggage at the front desk and eat the
continental style breakfast that begins at 6:00 am and is included with your
reservation at the supported hotel.
You will then need to bike 4.2 miles to the Tri-State Tour
starting location from the Hammond hotel. Directions and
a map will be provided. You should leave enough time though
to arrive there and load up on snacks and sports drinks before
the group departure at 6:30 am.
You will not need to check in at the Tri-State Tour starting
location because you will receive your Tri-State Tour cue
sheets and maps when you check in to Bicycle Illinois. You
will also not need a new wristband, in fact you can show
off your old worn out wristband from Bicycle Illinois to
everyone just doing the Tri-State Tour so they can gaze and
awe at your accomplishment!
We will pick up your baggage directly from the Hammond hotel in the morning
on our way to Kenosha. As a participant of Bicycle Illinois, we will not
charge you extra for baggage pick up from the supported hotel, unlike people
who are only participating in the Tri-State Tour and will carry your baggage
with us throughout the Tri-State Tour. If you plan on staying at the Hammond
hotel for two nights you should not have us pick your baggage at all.
After the End of the Tri-State Tour
You can either pick up your baggage at the end of the event in Kenosha or if
you register for the return transportation service from Kenosha we will transport
you, your bike, and your baggage from Kenosha to the Chicago hotel or at the
start of the event in Hammond.
If you are taking our transportation service from Chicago
on Sunday morning, the staging site will be directly at the
Chicago hotel.
